Mo Money, Mo Problems.

This is my final relief print for the semester.

"Mo Money, Mo Problems"
3 Layer woodcut, over one layer of screen printed text.
14 x 18 inches.
7 Editions.

I think the title does an excellent job of explaining the concept of this print; society is crippled by its monetary dependence.  Yay capitalism!

Up close.

Black Canvas Bob Ross

This is my first Bob Ross painting starting from a black canvas, it was interesting, and I feel like it's time to move onto one of his seascapes.

Giraffes for Babies

Every child deserves the opportunity for giraffes to be their favourite animal. So for my good friend's beautiful daughter Blake I painted a giraffe for her.

Finger painted with acrylic paint.

I also created a giraffe painting about a year ago for another friend's beautiful daughter Brianna.

Oil on Canvas.

A Blast From The Past

After realizing I neglected to post any of my art from highschool, I've decided to put it all in one nice post. Thanks to a brilliant art teacher these were the pieces that gave me the confidence to continue my studies in the fine arts. I'll start with my oil paintings.

"Monetary Confinement"
Oil on Canvas
30 x 36 inches
January 2008

"Devan and Me"
Oil on Canvas
Winter 2007

The next three I feel the pictures just dont do the art justice, but when I get a hold of an excellent camera, I will totally replace the pictures on this post. They are my pencil portraits.

"Noodles"
Pencil portrait of homeless man at shelter.
32 x 25 inches.
Spring 2007.

"My Ear Hair Makes Me Smile"
Pencil Portrait
22.5 x 19 inches
Winter 2006

"Untitled"
Pencil Portrait of man from National Geographic
19.5 x 13.5 inches
April 2006.

Harper Nation.

For my materials and techniques painting course this year I had to create a multimedia piece that used more materials then paint. At the same time the assignment was to recreate or contradict a famous painting from the past. Harper Nation was inspired by Eugene Delacoix's Lady Liberty Leading the People (1830).

Using mostly cardboard, egg cartons, old clothing, and newspaper clippings I commented on the direction I felt Canadian democracy was headed in the heat of prorogation and writing the budget. The piece is 4 by 3 feet, my largest painting on a canvas to date.

Putting some perspective on the piece.

I get by with a little help from Bob Ross.

Thanks to the internet and Bob Ross, I have now expanded my portfolio to include the following lovely landscapes:

My first attempt.. not bad.
Given to Grandma and Grandpa Lindenas.
Oil on Canvas.
24 x 18 inches.

Landscape Number 2.
Oil on Canvas.
16 x 20 inches.

Mountain Waterfall.
Oil on Canvas.
18 x 24 inches.

Now to explore his technique a little on my own. I think I can have fun with this.

Mural Painting 2009.

I was commissioned by Calumet Council to paint a mural which included animals from all the houses of residence, it took roughly 3 weeks to complete by myself, but it was a pretty wicked experience and now my legacy at York is there forever... or until another council paints over it.

Latex Wall Paint, on a large wall.
